x Energy Saving and Computer Health
- try to always use a power strip to plug your computer, monitor, etc., into - the fuse/breaker in the power strip will protect the electronics from power surges or brown-outs
- when you are finished with the computer, always turn it off, and turn off the monitor
- heat and always being "on" is far, far more destructive to the computer than turning it on and off
- if you are going away for an extended period of time, not only turn the computer, monitor, etc., off, but also unplug them from the wall, or, if you have them plugged into a power strip, unplug the power strip
